During this two day course, you will act on two fleets of aircraft (short-haul and long-haul), in order to identify fuel saving initiatives and look at their practical implementation.
Topics covered
- Main drivers of crude oil and jet fuel price
- Impact of fuel on an airline's bottom line
- Fuel hedging techniques and pricing
- Success factors for fuel saving projects
- Fuel burn vs. aircraft weight, climb and cruise speed and other operational patterns
- Aircraft modifications: What is the impact on fuel burn vs. additional weight? How much can aerodynamics and engine contribute?
- Preparing pilots, maintenance and dispatch staff to face new fuel policies
Active learning
- You will run a business case for engine wash: What is the payback? Is there a minimum fleet size?
- You will check bold statements from some vendors
- In groups, teams will remove weight from an aircraft to save up to 250 kg of fuel per tonne of weight removed
- You will evaluate the total potential fuel saving in both short-haul and long-haul fleets
- Participants will devise an action plan for discretionary fuel reduction
Who should attend
-
Airline managers involved in airframe or engine maintenance or flight operations
-
People involved in aircraft performance, flight planning, marketing, aircraft modification or upgrades
-
Aircraft manufacturer's engineers having a direct or indirect influence on aircraft weight, maintenance practices and operational procedures
-
